Low Carb Me

Mondays and Tuesdays are reset days for me. I try to eat less than 50 grams of net carbs each day. I do this partly because I actually feel great when I do this and partly because weekends are unrestricted for me in all regards (drinking all the wine, eating all the queso, etc), so you know, balance. If you’re wondering how to calculate net carbs, first, download the MyFitnessPal app. I just use the free version. Your net carbs are your total carbs less your fiber. If you have any questions, shoot me an email and I’ll try to help. Here’s an example of what I might eat on a low carb day.

Lunch:

Romaine Chicken Salad

Snapseed

To make this quick, simple salad, I first pop some raw chicken tenders seasoned with Weber Salt Free Chicken seasoning in the oven at 425 degrees for around 25 minutes. While these are cooking, I chop up some romaine hearts, and give a splash each of Olive Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar. I add a large pinch of shaved parmesan and then season with Celery Salt and Pepper. Not pictured, I also add some chopped red onion, but you could totally leave this out. Once the chicken is done, I cut up 2 tenders, throw on my salad and devour.

Dinner:

Cauliflower Shrimp ‘N” Grits

While this may not look gourmet, hell it really doesn’t even look good, I promise it is and it couldn’t be easier. First I take out 6 Trader Joes Argentinian Shrimp and thaw in the sink. While these are thawing, I roast some broccoli at 425 degrees for roughly 25 minutes, give or take. I usually season my broccoli with Trader Joes Everything But the Bagel Seasoning. When the broccoli is close to being done, I pop half a bag of TJ’s mashed cauliflower in the microwave (when done, add a tiny bit of goat cheese, salt & pepper). The shrimp cook up quickly in a skillet with a splash of olive oil (seasoned with TJ’s chili lime seasoning). Then you just compile in a bowl, cauliflower mash, broccoli, shrimp and top with TJ’s Siracha Ranch. So, so good and pretty guilt free.

Speaking of guilt free, has anyone tried buying workout clothes from Amazon?? While I do love me some Lululemon & Athleta, I always feel guilty spending so much on workout clothes. Enter Amazon. IMG_2391.jpeg

I mean, how freaking cute is this set?? Looks like Lulu for a fraction of the cost. The Sports Bra is amazing! It’s high cut so your girls are supported and stay put yet comes down low enough that you don’t look like a hoochie shirtless. The High Waisted Leggings suck in that mom pooch we all love and stay put while working out. For less than $22, you pretty much have to buy these. Macale is wearing a Small in both the bra and the pants.

Happy Tuesday friends.

Move Your Ass Monday

Well it’s Monday. The countdown to Friday has begun again. Hope everyone had a great weekend! Despite being a terrible Super Bowl, I still managed to eat ALL THE THINGS. My waistline is suffering this morning and there’s no better time than a Monday to get your ass in gear. Most Mondays, we’ll try to bring you a fun, at home workout. Not too hard, not too long…just something to get you moving and feel just a little bit better about yourself. We’ll stick with body weight this week but next week I’ll incorporate some weights, so if you don’t have them already, get some. Target has some and so does this little place I like to call Amazon. So don’t say you don’t know where to get any 🙂

3 Rounds (Meaning, do this entire list 3 times)

30 Air Squats

20 Bridge Lifts

15 Push Ups (Go to your knees to make it easier)

10  Burpees

1 Minute Jumping Jacks

If you want to see a brief “how-to” of any of the movements above, check out our Instagram Stories.

Five on Friday

Well it’s Friday (FINALLY) and once again, I feel like someone should be presenting me an award that we all made it through the week. Alive. And fed. I get two full days ahead of me to not be a child taxi cab, not pack any lunches, not volunteer at anyone’s school. Bliss. I thought it would be fun to share five things I’m loving every Friday, whether it’s a must have pair of shoes or whatever I’m stuffing my face with at the moment. Let’s get started.

ONE. SUPERBOWL SNACKS

Super Bowl weekend is upon us. While I do enjoy a good football game, it seems like the Super Bowl is never much of a game, more like food, beer, halftime show, food, beer and Tom Brady gets the MVP. But the food is what I’m here to talk about. Here are some of my favorite tried and true appetizers.

  • Cauliflower Cheese Bread Don’t be intimidated by the steps or the cauliflower grating. These are no guilt and seriously so good. Serve with your favorite jar of marinara.
  • Guacamole You can’t go wrong with guac. Ever. This is a good one.
  • Queso Because Super Bowl isn’t Super Bowl without chips and queso.
  • Mini Crescent Dogs Serve this with some fancy mustard and done! Plus the kids will eat them so bonus!
  • Hawaiian Roll Ham Sliders People will be secretly putting these things in their pocket. That good.
  • Or if you’re lazy and don’t want to make anything, Trader Joes has tons of pre-made frozen apps that are delicious and all you do is pop in the oven. I recommend the mini beef tacos, the Herbaceous Cheesy Bites, Bambino Pepperoni Pizzas, and the Mac N Cheese Bites.

TWO. FYRE

If you have been living in a hole and haven’t already watched the Netflix Documentary FYRE, stop what you’re doing and add it to your watch list. The whole thing is nuts and I pretty much reference something from it daily.

THREE. VALENTINE PJS

These Valentine PJS are so cute. If you’ve never owned a pair of Honeydew Intimates PJs, you are seriously missing out. They are so soft, wash well and look cute on. I always size up to a medium for a loose, comfy fit. Run, don’t walk. They always sell out quickly.

FOUR. HYDRATION

This Water Bottle is my jam. It’s cute, keeps my water cold and I always drink more with a straw. They are a little on the pricey side but so worth it.

FIVE. MOST FAVORITE SWEATSHIRT

I have this Z Supply Sweatshirt and seriously live in it. I get so many compliments every time I wear it and it’s the comfiest thing to wear over skinny jeans or leggings. Plus it has high side slits so you don’t look like you’re wearing a potato sack. Speaking of Super Bowl, this would be a perfect shirt to wear to hide the muffin top from all the snacks.

Happy Weekend Friends. Make it a good one. Cheers!

Well Hello There

Intros can be awkward. Let’s skip the awkward and get right to it. We’re two sisters, Brittany & Macale, living similar lives many miles apart. We’re both into working out, being mamas to our tribe of kiddos and embarrassingly obsessed with all things shopping and fashion. We’re basically here to tell you Moms are people too. We would have started separate blogs, but you know, kids…

So, why the name? Eat Slay Hustle? Simple really, just plain Hustle was already taken. But we do love to eat and slay the day so there you have it. Hustle, let’s break it down. Our girls, in order of birth are Haven, Tiegen, Lincoln and Ellis. Put “US” in the middle and you have Hustle. Get it??

A Brief About Us:

IMG_8133

Hi! I’m Brittany. I live in Park City with my husband Garrett and two girls, Haven (5) and Lincoln (3). Yeah, that’s Utah and it’s in the West, snuggled between Colorado, Idaho and Nevada for all of you wondering.  I’m a Texas girl at heart living in the mountains, adventuring whenever possible. When I’m not taxi cabbing my kids around town, you can find me on social media obsessing over people I don’t know and things I will never buy. I love to scour sales online and find cute things. Just wanting to share the love. I love french bulldogs, traveling, cooking, designer handbags and daiquiris, in no particular order.

IMG_9850

And I’m Macale. I live in Texas with my husband Jason and our 3 (yeah you read that right) tiny humans. Teigen (3), Ellis (2), and Tripp (4 months). Before you ask…YES we are freaking NUTS!! I’m a SAHM (because I enjoy torturing myself) who loves interior decorating, working out, online shopping for things I don’t need, hiding Amazon boxes before the hubs gets home, hiding from my kids, long romantic walks down every aisle at Target, and wine. LOTS of wine.

Can’t wait to meet everyone. Drop by anytime.

XOXO, Brittany & Macale
